Sam K. Kim was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in painting, and Pratt Institute with an Associates Degree in Graphic Design. From 2004 to 2011, he worked as a book designer at Penguin Group Publishing in New York City, while pursuing his passions in fine arts. After a year in the San Diego area of California and a couple months in Munich, Germany, working as a contract MAYA modeler and training as an automotive clay sculptor, he has relocated to Detroit, Michigan to continue his career as a creative sculptor for General Motors. His works at GM include interior clay modeling in the Chevrolet Full-size Trucks and Performance studios, and is currently clay and MAYA modeling within the GMC Trucks interior studio.
